Frequently asked questions

Equipment

Is the speaker easy to use?

Yes. Connect your phone by Bluetooth and press play. We show you how everything works free of charge when you collect it, and how-to instructions are included.

Do I need two speakers?

Usually not. For house parties, children’s parties and smaller halls, one speaker is plenty. A second is worth considering for larger rooms, wide layouts or bigger crowds. You can request up to two.

Can I connect my phone?

Yes — by Bluetooth. There is also a 3.5mm aux input, an optical input and a USB port.

Is a microphone included?

Microphones are an optional add-on at £10 each. You can request up to three.

How many lights do I need?

One multi-effect light covers a typical dance floor. A second can be added for wider spaces. Maximum of two.

Event

Is setup included?

No. This is dry hire — we supply the equipment for you to use. There is no DJ, sound engineer or on-site operator. We do give you a free demonstration at handover and how-to instructions.

Can the equipment be used outdoors?

Yes, subject to weather protection. The equipment must stay dry at all times and you are responsible for shelter, safe power and suitable conditions. Outdoor hire is £60 a night rather than £50.

How many guests is it suitable for?

There is no single number that works for every venue. It depends on room size and shape, indoor or outdoor, how spread out guests are, background noise and how loud you want it. Start with one speaker for a small venue, and tell us about the room if it is larger.

Booking

What does it cost?

Speaker hire is £50 a night indoors, £60 outdoors, or £85 for a weekend (Saturday to Monday). Party lights are £20 each and microphones £10 each. A £100 refundable security deposit is taken and returned after safe, on-time return.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

£100 refundable security deposit, subject to the cancellation, damage, loss and late-return terms.

How do I book?

Send us an enquiry with your dates and what you need. We check availability, confirm the price, and take payment. Your booking is confirmed once payment is received.

What happens if I cancel?

Cancel 7 or more days before your hire date and your deposit is refunded in full. Cancel less than 7 days before and 25% of the deposit is retained — £25 on a £100 deposit, leaving £75 refunded.

How can I pay?

Bank transfer before hire, or bank transfer / contactless payment at collection. Bookings made through Poptop are paid through Poptop.

Delivery

Do you deliver?

Yes, subject to availability. £10 each way within Milton Keynes, £20 each way outside. Post-event collection is charged separately at the same rates.

Can I collect the equipment myself?

Yes. Collection is free — we agree a time with you and hand over once ID and the hire agreement are complete.

When does the equipment need to be back?

Unless otherwise agreed, all equipment must be returned by 10:00am after the final hire date.

What if I return it late?

A grace period of up to two hours may be allowed. After that, late returns may be charged at £10 per hour. Please contact us as early as possible if you expect to be late.

Responsibility

Do I need ID?

Photo ID (passport or driving licence) and proof of address (bank statement, utility bill or government document) are required at collection. We check them at handover and hand them straight back — we do not take copies, photographs or scans, and we do not keep them.

Do you keep a copy of my ID?

No. We check your photo ID and proof of address at handover and hand them straight back. We do not take copies, photographs or scans, and nothing is stored.

What happens if something gets damaged?

You are responsible for the equipment during the hire. Charges may apply for damage, liquid damage, loss or missing accessories, and are deducted from the deposit. Light cosmetic marks are treated as normal wear.

Are there noise restrictions?

You are responsible for following venue rules, local noise restrictions and any licensing conditions. We supply the equipment; we do not authorise excessive noise or override venue rules.

Can someone else collect the equipment for me?

No. Only the person named on the booking can take the equipment, because we check their ID and they sign the hire agreement at handover. This applies to delivery too — the named hirer needs to be there when we arrive.

Only the person named on the booking can take the equipment. They must be present with their photo ID and proof of address, whether they are collecting from us or we are delivering, because the hire agreement is signed at handover.
